🎶 The Three Songs on My Phone ~ DJ😇
This is the shortest playlist I’ve ever made.
About ten years ago, shortly before subscribing to Spotify and abandoning the practice of purchasing and downloading music files, I purchased three songs through iTunes. Back then I mostly I used eMusic to buy music files, which I downloaded and saved to various hard drives, but because of Apple’s way of backing up and syncing content across devices, despite the different phones I’ve had since that time, these three songs continue to live on my devices. They will sometimes just start playing randomly, especially when I’m driving somewhere without good service.
Happily, these songs remain some of my favorites of all time, and I never tire of them. I’ve played them on constant repeat at times, and they don’t cease to inspire me.

Ape to Angel by Pitch Black
So vibey, and the mythic artwork continues to capture my imagination.
Rose of Jericho - Adam K & Soha remix by BT
BT is a pioneer of EDM, and this track captures something both groovy and transcendent. When I took my one and only drumming lesson, I wanted to analyze the rhythm structure of this song.
My Other by I Am Jen
Jen is an independent and little known electronic artist out of New York. Both cerebral and heart centered, this track struck me with its simple vocal style and pulsing, rocking vibe. The lyrics are also mythic, speaking to what it would be like to clone ourselves, the ultimate result of our search in the universe for… ourselves.
